A-Maying Revel (21 May 2011) Shire of Flintheath

After the harsh winter the larders are empty and it is time to stalk prey to feed the manor. Please join the Shire of Flintheath in our spring hunt in the woods.

Archery: The main focus of the revel will be a variety of shoots for archers. Spring themed Window shoots, arrow shoots and an IKAC round are some of the shoot that will be offered.

Rapier and Armored Combat: There will be an area set aside for those wishing to swing and thrust swords rather than fling projectiles.

A&S: During the day, the main pavilion will be open for arts & sciences activities, either personal or classes. Any gentle wishing to teach a class, please contact the autocrat.

Bardic Circle: In the evening a bonfire will provide the backdrop for bardic performances. Everyone is encouraged to stay and share in singing, dancing, story-telling or other performing arts.

Site: Liberty Archers Club Site on the Junction of 1065 and Wangford Road, Brandon, Suffolk. This is a primitive, wet site and will be open to the public to check us out. For those wishing to bring their own food to cook, we have 3 BBQ pits at our disposal. There will be no ground fires allowed, except at the bardic circle. Tiki’s in the camping area are OK. Site will be available from Friday night to Sunday noon for those who wish to camp.

Directions: Take your easiest route to the A1065. Coming from Brandon towards RAF Lakenheath you will take a left off the 1065 across from Wangford Road at the end of the flightline of the base. Coming from the A11 you will pass the base on your left and at the end you will take a right. Signs will be posted at the turn.

Cost: £10 per person (5 & under free). Site fee is for the revel only. For those that are not camping, there are a few B&B’s close by, and several shire members have spare rooms. For information about B&Bs in the area, please contact the autocrat.

Board: Lady Ceara inghen Ihon mhic Lucais is cooking food for those that wish to partake. Food costs are not included in the site fee. Please contact Lady Ceara at trekatz@yahoo.com to be included.
