| Welcome! The Shire of
Flintheath is a part of the Crown Principality
of Insulae Draconis in the
Kingdom of Drachenwald.
Drachenwald is a kingdom within the
Society for Creative Anachronism (S.C.A) and serves the Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, and Bedfordshire in England.
The S.C.A is a non-profit, educational society dedicated to researching and recreating the Middle Ages in the present. The S.C.A definition of the middle ages is any Western civilization before 1600 AD; this is purposefully a very broad definition. |
| What is there to do in the SCA? The SCA offers a verity of hobbies all wrapped up in one. The armoured fighting (heavy fighting) is the most noticable activity. With fighters at all levels to assist and teach both men and women in the art of combat and war; however if bruises are not on your hobby to do list, there are plenty of passive activities as well as fencing (light fighting). The SCA offers involvement for almost every person of any age with an interest in history. There is medieval dance, cooking, mead/beer brewing, writing, weaving, sewing, and wood/metal working...The list goes on for as far as your own imagination allows it. The most there is to do in the SCA is share your hobby and socialize with other historical enthusiasts. |
| How do I become involved? Getting involved is easy, simply show up to a meeting, fighter practice or if you prefer a more formal approach, contact the Chatelain, the groups welcoming liaison. You can get involved as much or as little as you chose. The SCA is a strictly voluntary organisation. We welcome and encourage new members, membership is not need to participate, and you can simply show up and play. If you wish to become a member, click here. Once around the group you will find plenty of people to assist you in getting involved and on your way to re-creating your part in living history. |
